Adverse Donor Reaction Webinar

Adverse Donor Reactions

The following is a recorded webinar delivered by Simon Tappin exclusively for Pet Blood Bank collection staff covering:

  • Triage of emergency patients
  • Assessment of the major body systems
  • Cardiovascular system assessment
  • Vascular access
  • Ventilation, oxygen support and respiratory system assessment
  • Categories of shock
  • Fluid therapy
  • Effective CPR

The aim of the webinar is to support the collection team when assessing a donor and making treatment decisions following an adverse donor reaction at a collection session.

Although aimed at adverse donor reactions, the webinar is a comprehensive account of how to assess and manage any emergency patient.

It should be noted that oxygen will not be available at all our venues and in these situations room air can be used to ventilate patients.
