The following course will cover Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) SOP.COL.06.11

The purpose of SOP.COL.06.11 is to train you with regards to:

  • Ensuring that donated blood is stored and transported in a manner which ensures optimum product quality

If you are reading this as a document update, any changes that have been made to the document since the previous version will be highlighted in grey so pay careful attention to these.

Restrictions for this SOP:

  • May only be carried out unsupervised by PBBUK staff who have been trained in this procedure
  • Contract and volunteer drivers must also be trained to this SOP before transporting blood for delivery into the PBB processing Laboratory
  • Contract and volunteer drivers who are only transporting blood will not be trained to this SOP but will be supported by the trained collection and receiving staff at PBB
