Speaker Biography

Dr Neil Geddes

BVM&S, Cert VOphthal. MRCVS

Neil qualified from RDSVS in 1987 . He spent the first 3 years working in mixed practice in Cumbria . He then moved to Melbourne , Australia where he locumed for 18 months . He returned to Fife in Scotland , where he became a partner in a Small Animal Practice in 1994 . He passed his RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1996 and started taking Eye Referrals from neighbouring practices the following year . Slowly over the years the caseload built to the point , 15 years ago , where he stopped doing first opinion work and instead spent all his time on Ophthalmology cases  .

Neil splits his time evenly between consulting and operating . The operating list usually compromises an equal mix of eyelid, corneal and cataract surgery . There are now 2 full-time Veterinary Ophthalmologists working in the practice [ St Clair Vets ] and a further 2 vets studying for their BSAVA Ophthalmology Certificate .

Neil has lectured for a number of providers including BSAVA /BVA and Improve CPD . He currently delivers the under-graduate Ophthalmology teaching at Glasgow University Vet School and for Vets Now , on their ‘Cutting Edge ‘ courses .

When Neil is not working he can usually be found on a golf course or up a hill
