Kate has been working in referral internal medicine for over 20 years. Firstly as a medicine resident and later Senior Clinical Fellow in Small Animal Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care at the University of Bristol. She has since worked in three private referral practices with busy first opinion practices attached and was Clinical Director in one of these. Kate joined Idexx as an Internal Medicine Consultant in 2017 and enjoys sharing her experience and pragmatic approach to medical cases. She is a European and RCVS Veterinary Specialist, co-author of two textbooks, peer-reviewed publications, continuing education articles and book chapters and has lectured widely on internal medicine.
The following short course explains the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the very unlikely event that a donor should suffer a cardiac arrest at a session.
This has never happened and there is no reason it should, but this is the sort of situation where you need to act quickly and decisively to save a life.
The first lesson provides a brief overview of the theory of CPR and the techniques for artificial respiration and cardiac compressions.
The second lesson shows how the emergency equipment would be used during resuscitation.

Charlotte studied at the Royal Veterinary College in 2011-2015 for the BSc Honours in Veterinary Nursing. Working in busy first opinion hospitals and predominantly current referral hospital Charlotte has spent the last 2 years working as an Internal Medicine Nurse at Southfields Veterinary Specialist.
Charlotte is currently working towards her Vets Now Emergency and Critical Care certificate to support her work in referral and further her knowledge. Charlotte is responsible for assisting with the organisation of blood transfusions at Southfields including maintaining stock, patient transfusion monitoring and assisting other staff with these procedures.

The following course provides training on the Mobile Unit, showing all the features and how they are used.

Once you have completed the course there is a short quiz to take before your completion certificate is generated.
This course is to help you familiarise yourself with the consumables that veterinary practices can order from Pet Blood Bank in addition to blood products. It is not intended to be a full clinical guide, but instead an overview of what each product is used for in practice.
Each consumable has a very short video explanation showing the product and highlighting any key features.
